| Details: | SUMMARY: Four Repeat Samples E.Coli+ Resulting in an Acute MCL Violation DETAILS: On 5/26/06, while on phone duty, I received a phone call from Terry Ritner. Terry also called and left a phone message with our Pendleton office today. Terry advised me that all four repeat samples collected on 5/24/06 tested positive for E.coli. Terry says the park remains open and all guests have been notified. The water system has been shut down and will remain inoperational until some additional coliform testing can demonstrate absent test results. I faxed Terry a PN template and requested he send us a copy of the completed notice. Terry will hand deliver the notice to the park guests. Terry suspects the springs are contaminated from surface water intrusion. The springs are old and will be eliminated soon since a new well is being developed. I recommend he investigate and try to identify the source of contamination. I also told Terry to shock chlorinate the three springs but that might be difficult due to spring construction and piping from the springs to the entry point. Terry knows to collect five routine samples next month. Terry will call our Pendleton next week to give an update. ACTION NEEDED: Wait for PN and phone call next week. | ||
