| Details: | SUMMARY: Assistance with control and telemetry problems DETAILS: The system requested help in evaluating the telemetry system for the main tank and wells. The telemetry system has become unreliable and difficult to maintain due to obsolete components. This is a severe problem since by the time low water is discovered, the town can be out of water. The system has consulted with telemetry suppliers and has received a variety of advice. No one on staff has the experience to evaluate the problem and offer a strategy on how to improve the reliability through upgrades to the system. I visited the shop, wells, booster pumps and tank sites and spoke to the operator about the problem. I reviewed the plant control scheme, making sketches as necessary. Since radio telemetry for the entire system seemed a possibility, I obtained GPS fixes for each site and plotted the radio signal profiles. I provided a report to the system which identified possible upgrade routes and the merits of each. The report included budgetary estimates. ACTION NEEDED: Answer questions generated by the report | ||
