Details:	SUMMARY: Storage Tank Water Quality Troubleshooting DETAILS: HBH was contacted by Mr Young and asked to help solve water stagnation problems in storage tanks. System has multiple storage tanks with the Dillard tank positioned 15 feet higher in elevation than the Winston tanks. Winston tanks tend to not have adequate turn over and manual efforts to remedy the situation are time consuming and do not allow full use of the Dillard tank. I received various sketches of system profile showing tank heights, sizes, ground elevations and overflow elevations. Evaluated Districts staff’s idea for the use of multiple check valves but was unable to find a viable way for this to work. I investigated numerous options using hydraulic valves without the need for electrical supply. Detailed solution using a 2 way altitude valve at Dillard tank with delay on return flow (Cla-Val Model 210G BD BY 10 inches). This valve would shut when Dillard tank is full and stay shut until Winston tanks dropped by a selected amount (5 feet or so). The valve would then open immediately filling the Winston tanks and causing a drop in the Dillard tank. Plant would then be turned on and fill the Dillard tank again. Discussed this with operator. Plan turned off and on manually and discussed how this could be still be done. Also discussed usefulness of telemetry at Dillard tank to automate start/stops and how this could be accomplished. They are concerned with automation at this point due to the condition of the plant. Upgrade planned in near future. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to provide assistance as requested to implement strategy.
