Details: | SUMMARY: Summarize options to supply water to residences out of the City of Myrtle Creek. DETAILS: The system requested HBH assistance to evaluate options and feasibility of a variety of means to supply drinking water to users both the present water distribution system, in the vicinity of Springbrook Springs. These include an estimated 20 homes that until recently had tapped into the cities spring water that supplies the Springbrook Water Treatment Plant. Both distance and vertical elevation of these residences from the current distribution system complicate the supply of water source for the homes requires treatment that needs to be determined to meet the States drinking water standards. I reviewed previous collection studies, general system information and DWP data on line. I acquired Point of Use (POU) and Ground Water Under the Influence (GWUI) Rules. I downloaded and evaluated topographic maps of the area. I requested costs of laboratory testing and discussed previous studies with HBH staff and the Myrtle Creek Operator. I toured the booster pump station, and called a vendor for a quote. I acquired cost estimates for a 10,000 gallon tank, flow meters, and chemical feed equipment. ACTION NEEDED: I need to evaluate POU and GWUI rules and estimate lab testing costs to evaluate the spring and level of treatment that will be required and discuss with DWP staff. I will need to complete an estimate to provide and install booster pump stations. Finally assess the cities options and subsequent costs vs benefits. |
