| Details: | SUMMARY: Alert Chem 2845 for Nitrate MCL DETAILS: Received alert for Nitrate result at 12 ppm(exceeds MCL). Spoke on the phone 2/20/08 with Matthew Moore manager for the plant. He received the alert and notified employees of NW Hazelnut Company and the adjoining business, Oregon Vineyard Supply, about the high nitrate result. He is providing bottled water for employees at both businesses. He consulted with a water treatment company about filtration options and was told that the nitrate level may be an aquifer issue. Upon further discussion with Mr. Moore he informed me that the neighboring field is spread with the treated matter from the sewage lagoon of a nearby dairy. We also discussed the heavy rainfall that occurred in January when the sample was taken. Mr. Moore decided to test the well again I June or July 2008 and will base his decision for the well on the result of the upcoming sample. ACTION NEEDED: Take nitrate sample in June or July 2008. | ||
