Details: SUMMARY: PCE Detections at the Entry Point. DETAILS: Jim Nash contacted me regarding an ogoing problem with Tetrachloroethylene (PCE) at the entry point. A sample collected from the well was ND on 3/18/08. The source of the PCE is currently unknown, but suspected to be either an old air compressor or coating in the steel tank. The air compressor is being replaced this week. The tank was recently cleaned and inspected by Liquivision. Jim is going to check the tank inspection report, but believes they did not find a coating or liner, which would imply the tank is not the source of the PCE. Tom Pattee reviewed the systems source water assessment and recommends they continue checking the source water in addition to the entry point for PCE. The results of the March well sample need to be confirmed. In the meantime, PCE testing needs to remain quarterly as the results were over the MCL in 2004 and cannot be found reliably and consistently below the MCL. Vinyl Chloride resutls have been non-detect, therefore reducing the sampling back to every 3 years for this contaminant. ACTION NEEDED: Await results of tank inspection and re-samples after replacement of air compressor. Follow-up with Benton county as needed.
