| Details: | SUMMARY: Acute E.coli violation - Boil Water in effect. System chlorinating and flushing. DETAILS: 3 out of 5 Repeat samples taken 10/10 were total coliform positive, and system has had boil warning in effect since Friday 10/10 due to E.coli positive sample taken 10/09. Samples taken at the South Well (original E.coli positive) and North Well were both coliform negative. Distribution samples taken from Hewes, Red Fern, and pump house were TC positive. At 12:00 noon Mr. Hughes placed 1 pound of 45 per cent calcium hypochlorite powder in the 21,000 gallon reservoir, for a theoretical residual of 2.7 mg/l. At 2:00 pm residuals of approximately 1.0 mg/l were measured in the distribution system, and at 5:30 pm a residual of 2.3 mg/l was measured at the Hewes residence. Since other parts of the distribution system had no chlorine residual, another pound of calcium hypochlorite powder was added to the reservoir at about 6 pm. ACTION NEEDED: Coliform samples were submitted to the laboratory on 10/14. Five Routine samples required in November. | ||
