Details: | SUMMARY: Phone call to discuss City of Prescott arsenic treatment opitons DETAILS: I spoke to Richard Krikava with Senator Johnsons office about the options for the City of Prescott to come into compliance with the Administrative Order issued April 14, 2009 following an exceedance of the MCL for Arsenic. The options included installing treatment (blending, removal, etc.), developing their old surface water source, drilling a new well, or purchasing water from PGE Trojan (a nearby public water system). Richard said that he had been working with Frank Oliver (503-556-9052) with the City of Prescott who was investigating the options. I told Richard that he should try and contact the Mayor, Kevin Miller, since he had been the one DWP and Columbia County had been in contact with about the arsenic issues since about 2006. He said that he would try and contact Kevin and that he would urge the City to contact HBH regarding treatment options. I told him that if they had made demonstrable progress towards resolving the MCL violation, that they could apply for an extension of the deadlines in the Administrative Order (07/31/09 - submit plans, 10/31/09 - treatment/new source in place, 11/30/09 - sampling demonstrates compliance with MCL). ACTION NEEDED: System to continue pursuing options to resolve MCL violation. Richard was going to try and contact Kevin Miller and urge them to contact HBH for technical assistance. Evan to contact Frank Oliver to discuss options. |
