| Details: | SUMMARY: Invalidation of positive coliform sample - Nonrepresentative Location DETAILS: Discussed repeat positive with Keith today. Systems routine sample, #B9I0122-03, collected on 9/1 at 740 SW 3rd Street was e.coli positive. Repeat sample #B9I0315-05, collected at the same location on 9/3, was total coliform positive, but all other repeat samples were coliform absent. Given that the sample was taken from a frost free tap, I indicated that my recommendation to DMCE, would be that this meets the criteria for sample invalidation under OAR 333-061-0036(5)(k)(B), and invalidation of the acute coliform MCL. I reiterated to Keith the importance of following a completed coliform sampling plan which included approved tap locations and a schedule for routines/repeats. Keith indicated that the sample location was chosen because it was easy, and that the City will not sample there in the future. Madras is 100% purchasing water from Deschutes Valley WD, and a special taken at the master meter on 9/3 was absent. ACTION NEEDED: Madras will be taking 3 routine samples on 9/9 from approved locations in the vicinity of this tap, that are on their coliform sampling plan. Keith to notify me of results of additional routines. DWP to provide support, especially if any of the replacement routines are coliform present. | ||
