Details: SUMMARY: Positive coliform DETAILS: A Benton county employee sampled the system even though is not open to the public until May 15. The system is shut off to the water risers, bathrooms and showers. There is no public health risk. The system is shock chlorinated, flushed and tested prior to opening to the public each year. I contacted Chuck Michael with the state to invalidate the sample. An explanation was sent to Chuck by email. I also spoke to Al Kitzman and Jeff Powers of Benton County to discuss the situation and discuss procedures being taken to this point. It was suggested to change the name on state website to Salmonberry Campground rather than park, to provide a clearer definition that the system portion of the area is actually a seasonal campground with no public access to the water during the off season. ACTION NEEDED: Wait to hear from Chuck that the test has been invalidated.
