Details: SUMMARY: Arsenic Levels Exceeding MCL DETAILS: System owns and operates water system consisting that of five springs and a large well that serves 147 active connections. The five springs feed into a single transmission line that discharges into an 11,000 gallon cistern. From here the water is chlorinated and pumped up the hill to two storage tanks with a combined storage of 185,000 gallons. From this point, the system is gravity fed through 8 inch and 6 inch pipes. The well produces 150 gpm with 50 gpm going to treatment and 100 gpm getting bypassed. System currently exceeds the MCL for arsenic in their well. The springs no longer can meet the demands needed to dilute the well source to maintain a delivered product below the MCL. HBH was contacted by Russ Hansen of Crook County to provide assistance to the system. I made preliminary contact with the system by telephone. Researched existing conditions within the system, including existing treatment installed for the well. ACTION NEEDED: Meet on site with system staff and board members to determine course of action.
