Details: | SUMMARY: Arsenic Levels Exceeding MCL & Spring Protection DETAILS: System owns and operates a domestic water system consisting of five springs and a large well that serves 147 active connections. The five springs feed into a single transmission line that discharges into an 11K gallon cistern. From here water is chlorinated and pumped up the hill to two storage tanks with a combined storage of 185K gallons. From this point the system is gravity fed through 8 inch and 6 inch pipes. The well produces 150 gpm with 50 gpm going to treatment and 100 gpm getting bypassed. System currently exceeds the NCL for arsenic in their well. The springs no longer can meet the demand needed to dilute the well source to maintain a delivered product below the MCL. HBH was contacted by Russ Hanson of Crook County to provide assistance to the system. I met on-site with system and reviewed the existing water treatment system to determine the type and condition of the units. I also inspected the separate spring’s source as the system reported difficulties with spring flow. I corresponded with county health department regarding system problems. ACTION NEEDED: Complete arsenic removal recommendation report. Perform contact tracer study. |
