| Details: | SUMMARY: Inquiry about funding assistance for Prescott arsenic MCL DETAILS: I called Mark Siegel, Assistant Director of Communications for Sen Jeff Merkley, upon the request of Cindy Shuster, EPA Region Xs congressional coordinator at 206 553-1815. Marks question centered on potential sources of funding from EPA or other entities to help small towns like Prescott offset the costs of complying with Arsenic standards, such as costs for treatment and plan review fees. Mark stated that he had recently reached out to Chris Marko, Rural Community Assistance Corp-RCAC, and that could be a possibility of assistance for the community. Mark indicated that he had talked with US (Dept of Ag) DA Rural Development, and EPA, but did not know if USDA was a good match for helping Prescott, and felt he needed to reframe his question for Cindy with EPA again. I indicated that I had seen email correspondence concerning assistance for Prescott amongst DWP State Revolving Loan Fund, USDA, and RCAC staff. ACTION NEEDED: James to continue to try to reach Prescott to receive an update on their funding needs, and inquire internally for an update on DWP State Revolving Loan fund possibly providing assistance to the City, if City wishes to pursue SRF. Mark will call Chris Marko at RCAC later this week to see if he has reached out to Prescott regarding possible funding assistance. James and Mark to update each other as either of us know anything new on possible assistance options. | ||
