Details: SUMMARY: Informal Inspection and strategy for formal inspection DETAILS: I wrote a follow-up letter to Paster Rick House, to a recent visit Imade to Camp Fircroft. During my inspection visit on July 30, 2010, I decided that it would also be a good idea to take a look aththe water system. So I deceded tohike to the spring. I knew I was close when I heard the generator hum. My purpose for hiking to the spring wa to take a look and assess it informally, for an deficiencies. Based on my inspection, I concluded the the spring box does not have: A) a proper screened air vent and overflow B) the access-entry hatch is not water-tight. C) the fenced enclosure wasnt in good repair. One hazard present can be rectified by moving the generator some distance from the spring and providing containment for the gasoline jugs. I also noticed that that the storage tanks also have a few items that need to be chagned to makd the system meet drinking water healthcodes. Those changes include screened air vents and creened overflows on the poky tanks, and locks on th access lids. The tanks should also by rule be protected by a fence. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 541-247-3254 or by e-mail at meszarosm@co.curry.or.us ACTION NEEDED: Since this was an informal inspection if the water system, you will not be held to a time frame for correcting these issues. If it were formal you would have had 120 days to correct them. Please contact me to make arrangements for a meeting at the camp to talk about a plan of action. We can at that time discuss and prepare a strategy fro completing a formal inspection. The system has not had one in many years and is due.
