Details: SUMMARY: Corrosion Control System Optimization DETAILS: The Fernridge School District contacted HBH regarding excessive leakage in the combined system at Elmira High School and Elmira Elementary School. During that investigation, the operator requested assistance with pH and alkalinity variations in the treated water. Water is supplied from a small well located on the south side of the high school campus. Water is chlorinated and caustic soda is added for pH adjustments prior to going to the water storage tank. From there, water is re-pressurized prior to going to the water storage tank. This well is the only source of potable water for both schools. I completed report which provided recommendations for storage/use of caustic soda and costs for a data logging system that can be used by the school to automatically record pH. ACTION NEEDED: None needed at this time.
