| Details: | SUMMARY: Documenting chlorine residual DETAILS: Follow up on violations per Nov 3, 2010 letter to owner, specifically documentation of daily chlorine residuals measured at first user plus Cl checks elsewhere in the system twice weekly. Reviewed paperwork on site showing chlorine measurements were documented daily for last several months, including summer. Les explained these are measured at the old chlorine shed immediately prior to the 1st user. Discussed chlorine strength goal of keeping residual under 1.2 mg/L before new tanks were put on line. Glenn wanted to know if the Cl strength could be reduced with the 2 2500 gal tanks were on line with the pump float set to refill tanks~2200 gals? I directed him to obtain and maintain documentation by finding paperwork from the PE who had designed their current system or contact another PE and obtain calculations. Paperwork showed chlorine documentation ranged from 0.55 - 1.4 mg/L with a majority of readings around 0.9 mg/L. The practice of measuring chlorine twice a week somewhere other than at the first user had been documented during 4 separate weeks since late November with with one week entirely missed. No documentation found previous to 11/10. Advised that they make sure to seriously follow through on this requirement. I suggested understanding the coliform sampling plan requirement might help make these additional chlorine measurements more logical. ACTION NEEDED: Continue documenting chlorine measurements twice weekly aside from readings at 1st user. | ||
