Details: | SUMMARY: Contact Tracer Study DETAILS: The City of Brookings has a groundwater collection system under the Chetco River. The City serves a population of 7,120 people through 3,309 connections. Water from the groundwater collection system is disinfected at the intake system, and then the water flows to the water treatment plant. The purpose of the water treatment plant is for particulate removal rather than for meeting the SWTR (source is GW). In addition to the primary gaseous chlorine disinfection system at the intake, the City has a back-up booster system following the water treatment plant. DWP staff has requested verification that the secondary system has sufficient contact time should the primary system not function. The City contacted HBH for assistance with this verification. HBH met with system personnel on site to determine flow conditions through the treatment plant and recommended potential modifications at the WTP that would increase the contact time before the first user. ACTION NEEDED: If required, perform contact tracer testing for the secondary system. |
