Details:	SUMMARY: Manganese Removal DETAILS: The Heceta WD pulls water from Clear Lake. Clear Lake is a natural source of elevated levels of Manganese. This is especially troublesome when the lake turns over seasonally. Manganese levels at some points in the distribution system are at levels exceeding the EPA secondary stand. In addition, the manganese is creating a significant chlorine demand. HBH was contacted by the District to provide assistance with methods for reducing levels of manganese in the treated water. HBH met with operations staff on site to review intake and treatment facilities and researched chemical and ozone addition technologies for the removal of manganese. ACTION NEEDED: Complete report for the District.
