Details: | SUMMARY: Monitoring violation DETAILS: Discussed numerous violation and exceeding the 95% threshold of all turbidity measurements being less than or equal to 1 NTU. System operator stated that measurements have not been taken at the required 1 time per day and numbers recorded on summary report are not valid. Showed operator again how to use new turbidimeter with the measurement of 1.0 NTU observed. Discussed proper sampling of turbidity and chlorine residual with the purpose of disease prevention. System stated they will measure and record values for turbidity/chlorine residual on a daily basis and will send these reports to the state before the 10th of the subsequent month. Also discussed that 95% threshold would allow for 1 days turbidity measurement to be above 1 NTU but always below 5 NTU. Discussed when plant should be shut down and to monitor turbidity closely during large rain events. Additionally, water system stated plans to purchase and install and ozonator with the purpose of meeting standards for C. parvum removal Operator stated he had discussed this installation with the state. Informed system that Lincoln County would be in contact with the state to alert of plan to install ozonator and whether this would be approved. Informed operator that this installation would have to go through plan review process with the state before work was to begin. ACTION NEEDED: Inform state of faulty records and follow up with system under states guidance. |
