Details: SUMMARY: System Issued a Boil Order July 3, Lifted July 5 DETAILS: Dave called to let DWP know that a boil order was issued as a precaution on Sunday July 3. High flows in OFarrel & McCully Creeks washed out about 80 feet of the transmission line that runs from the McCully Fork intake to the water treatment plant. The Cracker Creek infiltration gallery backup source was placed into service on Sunday. There was no interruption of treatment at the slow sand plant, and adequate CT was maintained. The water level in the reservoir fell to two feet, but the minimum pressure of 20 psi was maintained. Water use restrictions are in place to prohibit outdoor watering. The water level in the reservoir is rising. I advised that since there was no interruption in treatment or pressure that the boil order could be lifted as long as pressure was maintained. David has been in touch with the DRC, Jason Green, on what steps to take to replace about 100 feet of AC pipe that was washed out. OAWU staff may make a site visit. David plans to replace the broken pipe with 8-inch C900 PVC. The access road along the transmission line is overgrown, so many trees will need to be cut in order to access the site, and some instream work done. The city is in touch with DEQ regarding the instream work. Dave is documenting the incident and what actions are being taken. ACTION NEEDED: PWS to collect monthly coliform sample and nitrate sample this week, proceed with repairs to transmission line.
