| Details: | SUMMARY: Coordination with Lincoln County re: E Coli positives at Drift Creek Landing DETAILS: Amy Chapman has been in touch with facility owners regarding the E Coli in the assessment sampling and subsequent confirmation samples. Jim Laible (owner) walked the raw water transmission pipeline between the springbox and pumphouse earlier today and found a break in a stretch where the pipe was apparently near or in the adjacent creek. He repaired the pipe. It is suspected that the break is the cause of the E coli but no additional raw water samples have been taken to verify this conjecture since the pipe was repaired. Along with the confirmation samples collected on 8/24/11, a distribution sample was also collected - but it was marked "special" and therefore not reported and entered into SDWIS. I contacted the laboratory (Analytical Labs - Eugene) and they told me that the sample was received by them, it was collected at 3783 Alsea Hwy, and was absent for both Coliform and E coli. The chlorine residual was 0.7 ppm Cl. As of 8/26/11, the owners had raised the chlorine residual to approx. 1.4 ppm. Also of interest is that the facility has been sold and new owners will take over in about 2 weeks. ACTION NEEDED: Initiate geologist review of source. Request followup raw water samples now that pipeline is repaired to determine nature of source water. | ||
