| Details: | SUMMARY: Contact Tracer Study DETAILS: HBH had performed a contact tracer study in 2010. The flow rate of the test (stated as 7.5 gpm by the water system staff) has been rightly called into question. Since this test, it was recommended to the system that they monitor their flows to accurately determine the peak flows. The reported peak flow was 25 gpm. It should be noted that during the tracer testing completed in August 2011, it was seen that the flow meter at the systems reads in cubic feet, not gallons. It is likely that the original tracer test was actually run at 56 gpm. The purpose of these contacts is to establish an accurate contact tracer test for the Hot Springs. HBH visited the system n 8/4/11 to collect data. At this time, the system was not ready for the testing to begin. Preliminary evaluation of the data indicated that the contact time (as tested) is not sufficient for all situations. Further review of historical reservoir labels indicate that the low level is actually ½ full. Testing was completed at ¼ full, based on information provided by the system. HBH recommended that the water system increase chlorine dosage and maintain higher levels in the reservoir to maintain higher contact times. ACTION NEEDED: Review the original tracer test to determine the viability of that test (from 2010). Possible completed tracer testing at a flow rate closer to the measured peak. The measured peak was approximately 30 gpm. The testing was completed at 47 gpm. | ||
