| Details: | SUMMARY: Ecoli detections DETAILS: System is taking monthly assessment samples for an unapproved well. They started in May 2011 and the 6th assessment sample is the first to have detections, both total coliform and Ecoli. A routine distribution sample taken the same day also has both coliform and Ecoli detections. I spoke with Chris and he mentioned he already took 4 repeat samples including a triggered sample from the well. I informed him that 5 confirmation samples from eh well are also required and to take them ASAP. I sent him a copy of the boil water public notice template and explained they are on a boil water requirement at this point. He said they are providing bottled water for the school and have turned off all the drinking fountains. The system has residual maintenance chlorine but had turned off the chlorinator prior to taking lead and copper samples in an effort to troubleshoot a lead and copper exceedance issue. I instructed Chris to reestablish a chlorine residual in the distribution, 1 ppm, and disinfect and flush the well once all the samples have been taken. Chris is going to provide me with a fixture count so I can perform some preliminary coliform calculations.
