Details: | SUMMARY: Rodents found in Dry Creek reservoir DETAILS: Rodents were found floating dead inside the Dry-Creek Reservoir tank following completion of the outer openings sealing project initiated as part of the ‘significant deficiencies’ corrective actions following the 5/21/12 water system survey. Reportedly, the rodents fell into the water reservoir and drowned after they were sealed inside the reservoir cover/building. There had been no indication of infestation prior to finding the dead rodents. The operator responded by immediately isolating the reservoir from the distribution system (turned off the valve). The operator planed to drain the reservoir and pressure wash the interior with a 200mg/l chlorine solution before performing ‘special’ microbiological water tests. ACTION NEEDED: 8/10/12:Today, David reported, via e-mail, that the draining and sanitizing of the reservoir had been completed on 8/9/12. As well, he stated that they will re-fill the reservoir today with the intent of performing water quality testing next week (prior to connecting the reservoir to the distribution system).David also queried what certified operator level was required for the system. We informed him, via e-mail that the certified operator for the system would need to maintain ‘Distribution-1’ certification. |
