| Details: | SUMMARY: Repeat distirubtion system samples coliform postive, well #4 triggered source sample e-coli positive DETAILS: I was notified by Dorothy Brinkerhoff with Alpine Pump that repeat testing in the distribution system was coliform positive and that the triggered source sample on well #4 was e-coli positive. I spoke to Betsy Perry at the Springfield DWS office and discussed the situation. Dorothy was informed to take 5 source confirmation samples at well # 4. We discussed that if they wanted to begin shock chlorination they could do so, but only after the confirmation samples were taken. I called and left a voice mail with Debbie Cassidy the system DRC. She left a voice mail after hours and explained that she understood the situation and that well # 4 had been shut off. She stated she would be out of town next week but she would call me in the morning. I discussed with Dorothy the possible need of a boil water notice if the confirmation samples returned positive. We also discussed that if shock chlorination occurred they should take another source sample at well # 4 and a distribution sample to insure the system was clean. I gave Dorothy my county cell number so we could be in communication if I was in the field conducting inspections. Well # 4 is a new source. It has not received final approval. I will discuss with Debbie what needs to be remitted to Jay MacPherson to obtain a final approval. ACTION NEEDED: Wait for the results of five well #4 confirmation samples. Go over protocols with Debbie Cassidy, discuss final approval for well #4 and remind her that five temporary routine distribution samples would be required in March. | ||
