Details: | SUMMARY: Debbie Cassidy DETAILS: Raintree Estates had a positive e-coli result from a triggered source sample at well #4 on February 24th. This system does not have disinfection installed. Five confirmation samples returned positive for coliform and negative for e-coli. The system was shock chlorinated. A special sample was taken at well #4 after the shock chlorination, which returned e-coli positive. It was discovered that there was a breach in the electrical conduit which was allowing rain water run off to flow into the conduit and into the well head. I conducted a site visit on 3/14/14 to observe the issue. I conducted a second site visit to observe the repair. The electrical conduit was bypassed and a small hole drilled in the base of the bypass creating an air gap so rain run off can no longer enter the well head through the conduit. A special sample was taken at well #4 after a second shock chlorination in March and the results were negative for coliform and e-coli. A public notice was issued to the residents on March 24. The public notice was forwarded to DMCE. ACTION NEEDED: Wait for the results of five temporary routine distribution samples required before March 31st. The contract operator that samples the system states they will be taken on March 26th. |
