Details: SUMMARY: Iron complaintants from residents DETAILS: The iron filtration system has been off-line for several months due to issues with a contractor. A second contractor was hired ( Cascade Water Works) which Dave said were completed on Friday. Benton County Health has received several complaints from residents over the last six months regarding heavy iron deposits that are resulting in ,stained sinks, tubs, and clothing. Dave stated that the water quality was better and the water was clearing. I contacted some of the residents on 12/19 who had filed complaints. I spoke to Dave and he agreed to do some extra line flushing in that residents area . I told the resident I would be in contact with them over the next couple of days to monitor the water quality. This particular residnet brought a tap sample to our office in late November that looked liked iced tea and had an 1/8 inch of sediment in it once it settled. The managers have a iron and manganese test kit they are using to monitor the system. They offer to flush at any residents home at their request, supply at no charge a home filtration system, put out news letters and scheduled park meetings. I am continuing to work with the system to build community realtions and problem solve. When the survey was conducted in September, well #1 was not functional. Dave said he drew a special sample on well #1 to insure it was absent for coliform. We discussed taking annual source water samples for both wells as required. ACTION NEEDED: Stay in contact with residents over the next couple of days to see if the asthetic quality of the water improves. Continue to work with the operator to address resident complaints. Monitor results of annual source water tests.
