| Details: | SUMMARY: chlroamine reaction creates carbon black in his condo bldg DETAILS: Mike says his ~5 year old building plumbing hardware reacts with chloramines in the distribution to release carbon black. He called the City of Portland. The City told him theyd research it and get back to him, and to call the state DWP. Ultimately this is an issue between the plumbing contractor, the condo complex (they are currently engaged in a lawsuit), & residents. However, the emerging issue of SOC and DBP releases in chloraminated water systems is perhaps a future concern, particularly if it occurs before the meter. For now, however, the issue will remain unexplored by this office. ACTION NEEDED: none. |
