Details: | SUMMARY: UV Disinfection Recommendations DETAILS: The London Water Company owns and operates a surface water system that provides water to approximately 50 people through 22 connections. Water from Beaver Creek is treated by a pressure filter/cartridge filter plant prior to disinfection with sodium hypochlorite. The system has two 9000 gallon reservoirs that are used for storage and for contact time. The Circuit Rider had previously conducted a contact tracer study to determine the amount of contact time in the reservoirs before the first user. The amount of contact time was not sufficient for all operational conditions, so it is necessary for the water system to provide additional contact time, or to provide for log inactivation through another method. Discussed methods and costs for adding contact time to the system. Reviewed appropriate and OHA Approved UV systems with the water system. Provided cost, source and installation information to the water system. ACTION NEEDED: Continue working with water system on achieving adequate contact time and/or UV disinfection. |
