Details: SUMMARY: city lead sampling DETAILS: Spoke with Tom Hubbard today, he wanted to give us a heads up that Corvallis will be issuing a press release today regarding the city lead sampling that occurred a couple weeks ago at city buildings and parks. Tom informed me they tested 73 different locations and 6 or 8 sites had elevated results. Some of the locations that had elevated levels of lead were collected from city parks, all served by city water. The city has removed public acccess to these locations where test results were high and are planning to flush and re-sample tomorrow. He did mention that some of the high sites have not been used in 11 months prior to samling. These samples are above and beyond regulatory samples, they do not meet the criteria for sample site selection under the lead and copper rule. We discussed the 3Ts EPA guidance document. The city does have soda ash corrosion control treatment installed and all regulatory 90% results have been below the action level since 1992. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to investigate high results, flush and re-sample high sites, consider removing/replacing faucets that continue to test high for lead. Follow EPAs 3Ts guidance document for determining if lead is coming from faucet or plumbing. Consider regular flushing in city parks and buildings as part of normal operations.
