Coliform

Details: SUMMARY: LCR - Using UV as a non-BAT treatment for lead DETAILS: Welches first exceeded the lead action level after they began chlorinating their (TC+) spring. The operating theory is that the chlorine reduces the pH enough to make the water corrosive. This increased the lead.
UV was recommended by Welches as their lead treatment. Its unconventional, but it is accepted as an unpiloted treatment for lead. (It is intended to simply not reduce the pH below its natural levels.) ACTION NEEDED: Sample lead and copper every 6 months in 2017.
Submit plans to install UV treatment.
Submit more pH and alkalinity data in 2017 from both the SOURCE and the DISTRIBUTION after chlorination. (One 2016 sample shows alkalinity unchanged from source to distribution in low 20s ppm
