Details: SUMMARY: Re-setting minimum alkalinity WQP DETAILS: Powers uses soda ash and once exceeded the action level for either lead or copper. Such systems were instructed to monitor alkalinity levels at both the entry point and in the distribution system during their rounds of lead and copper sampling this summer (2017). I received their sets of alkalinity data dated 9/21/17 and 9/27/17, and initially set the minimum alkalinity at 38. But Harry then contacted me and said he has records of the daily EP alkalinity which showed that they would have missed that minimum about 20 times in the last year. I verified that they were using the titration method of alkalinity analysis in their onsite lab. Since he had extensive monitoring records, and their lead and copper levels have consistently been very low since 1993, we agreed to adjust the minimum accordingly, to 34. I notified DMCE to change the minimum in the database and to generate new reports for Powers with the WQP amounts already filled in. Spoke to Harry today, saying he could write the minimum of 34 in on his monthly WQP report for October. ACTION NEEDED: DMCE will mail Powers a WQP monthly reporting form with the new value. I am send Harry an instruction sheet on water quality parameter monitoring and reporting today.
