Details: SUMMARY: Treatment Technique Violation - Cl Residual Under 0.3 mg/l DETAILS: At 9:22am, Mr. Nielsen, the State Park Manager for Humbug Mountain Campground, contacted me by phone to notify that yesterday their water system dipped to 0.28 mg/l, which is below the minimum required chlorine residual. To address the issue the operator at the park increased water flow by opening several hose bibbs in the camp ground and also increased chlorine dosage. At 11:00am chlorine residual was at 0.5 mg/l. Mr. Nielsen posted a Failure to Maintain 4-log Treatment of Viruses notice at the shop and at the pay station for the campground. ACTION NEEDED: Mr. Nielsen was instructed to test chlorine residual at least twice a day for the next week to verify the issue is solved-- leave the notice in place as long as the chlorine residual is below 0.3 mg/l, but in no case for less than seven days, even if the situation is resolved. The operator will also Email me a copy of the notice, which will be forwarded to the DWS office.
