| Details: | Beth Radich called and said that they had taken 7 repeat coliform samples to the lab today. They also took a sample at the south spring source, however, that source is not in use (only the north spring has been in use and the south spring and well have been off-line). I let Beth know that since flushing was done, residuals restored (ranging from a low of 0.85 mg/l to 1.59 mg/l and 1.1 mg/l at the north end of the distribution system), that if the 7 repeat samples come back absent of bacteria, then they could rescind the boil water advisory. I advised them to provide a second notice so customers know to flush their household plumbing prior to use and provided an example door hanger, a problem corrected notice template, and some household plumbing flushing recommendations. It was also relayed to me that Heath Coakley with OAWU, who has been helping on-site, effectively completed a Level 1 Coliform investigation and found no deficiencies that could have lead to the contamination. It is reasonable to attribute the contamination to a recent waterline break incident in which they lost distribution pressure (I explained that any time they lose distribution pressure (pressure goes to 0 psi), that they should issue a boil water advisory with the thought that they should flush, check residuals, and test prior to lifting the advisory). I also provided the after hours emergency number to call (503-704-1174) should something come up over the weekend and she could not reach me at 971-200-0288. Results of coliform sampling anticipated to be received tomorrow will dictate further actions. |
