Details: | SUMMARY: Response to lead & copper pH excursion in Feb 10 DETAILS: I spoke to Jim about low pH and the two excursions below the 7.0 minimum on Feb 14 and 15. Jim indicated that the pump was starving for soda ash, as the suction line from mix tanks to feed pump had too much restriction and bends. Also the tank used for mixing chemical had propellers that were too small and not agitating the chemical adequately. Jim re-designed the PVC tube to use a larger diameter and get rid of elbow bends. Jim also began using a soda ash mixing tank with larger propeller, to allow for more mixing as the soda ash is fed to the feed pump. The pH values after this change increased above 7.0 to almost 7.5. He is dialing the pump setting down to provide a pH of around 7.2. ACTION NEEDED: DWP to continue to provide support on corrosion control. Jim is aware that this is the third excursion in a six month period. Any more than 9 in a 6 month period is a violation. | ||
