Details: | Tooley Water District was placed on a Tier 1 Notice 8/12/22 for a sample that was that was 10.2 mg/l, which is above the MCL for Nitrates. They were again above the MCL on 8/19/22 and recorded a result of 11.7 mg/l, leaving the Tier 1 notice in place. Infants under 6 months of age should not be served water, juice, and formula prepared with tap water. Bottled water or other water low in nitrates should be used for infants until further notice. Update 09/02/2022: Spoke with John Amery today to see if the Do Not Drink Tier 1 Advisory was still effective and he instructed me that it would be until further notice. They would try to turn it off at the end of the month when they think that Well 1 could handle the demand. Customers have been notified of the high Nitrates in the water and have been instructed not drink the water, especially infants 6 months old and younger. They are continuing to submit samples for the Nitrates, bi-monthly. Lifted 11/21/2022: The latest sample is below the MCL of 10 mg/l. Tooley Water District will continue to monitor the use of Well#2 for Nitrate and will submit all sample data to DWS as well as NCPHD bi-weekly while Well #2 is still in use. |
