Details: | Nesika Beach-Ophir Water District is a community water system with 579 connections, serving 1,500 people. Eric Shearer informed me that the system has issued a boil water advisory for loss of water pressure as a result of a fire hydrant pushing off of a six-inch main line at 9pm on 10/12/2022. The issue affected approximately 594 connections. All affected customers were notified on 10.13.22 at around 9:00 a.m. The system notified all customers through public alert system, local radio, website and direct contact via email with customers that had email addresses on file. Repairs have been made using a new pipe with appropriate fittings. The operator expects to lift the boil on 10.18.22 at the earliest, after lab test results can show absence of coliform contamination in the water. Update 10/17/2022: Eric reported that he blew out three booster stations and another 8” main when the system was re-pressurized. Eric is trying to get water back to customers. Update 10/18/2022: Eric reports that things are starting to return to normal. He topped off the system yesterday and have gotten most of the booster pumps automation back in service. A water sample was collected and sent to McCowan Lab yesterday. Results are expected today in the afternoon. Lifted 10/19/2022: The boil advisory will be lifted today. Water sample test results came back absent of bacterial contamination. All repairs completed and the system is back to normal operation. Routine samples for this month will be collected next week. |
