Details: The City of Powers has issued a boil water advisory as a precaution due to a scheduled service interruption to repair a water main line, which may result in possible pressure loss in the service lines. Date boil initiated: Notice sent in advance Feb. 17, 2023, effective for Feb. 21, 2023 through Feb. 23, 2023. Location affected by boil order: Customers on Railroad Avenue and at 270 2nd Avenue. The advisory notice will be lifted contingent on satisfactory results from 2 consecutive bacteriological samples and confirmation of normal area chlorine residuals.

Update 02/22/2023:  The boil order went into effect at approximately 9:00 AM this morning (Feb. 21) and the crew is expecting to get the first samples down to the lab this morning (Feb. 22). The affected area remains the same. The operator received a call from a customer adjacent to the area who reported his water had been shutoff as well. The crew was contacted and confirmed that one of the main line valves in the system was turned and caused a temporary shutoff to that home that was subsequently restored shortly after the report. The repairs were completed by 1:30 PM. The crew indicated they would also be checking into the valves in the area to ensure all are turned correctly to avoid inadvertent interruptions for future work.

Lifted 02/25/2023:  The City of Powers reported that they lifted the boil advisory on February 25, 2023. Follow up testing results came back absent of bacterial contamination. A copy of the boil water advisory was emailed to DMCE.
