Details: The City of Amity has experienced a system wide loss of pressure due to the reservoir draining unexpectedly this afternoon. Pressure is being restored, but because the supply line between the plant and the reservoir is more than a mile in length, it is expected to take several more hours, possibly overnight, to fully refill the reservoir and resume normal operations. Water system staff will be onsite throughout to ensure the system continues to fill. Samples will be taken once pressure has been fully restored, and the boil order will remain in effect until such time as lab results confirm the water is safe. Affected residents were notified by telephone text message via c County-wide emergency notification system, and additional notice was provided by social media and also on the City’s website.

Lifted 07/25/2023:  I received a call from the operator on 07/25/2023 at approximately 10:45 am. The boil order for the City of Amity has been lifted. Water pressure was restored, and water sample results indicate that the water is free of bacteria and safe to drink.
