| Details: | The laboratory reported a nitrate sample that tested at 37.7 mg/L, which exceeds the nitrate MCL of 10 mg/L. The laboratory also reported that the sample was colored and turbid. The water system is being advised to post a Do Not Drink Notice until the system can provide a nitrate confirmation sample that is below the MCL of 10 mg/L. The system will also need to provide a copy of a current Surface Water Treatment Report (SWTR) for review by Drinking Water staff and also collect a coliform sample from the distribution system. If the SWTR, coliform and nitrate samples indicate that the water system is meeting Drinking Water Standards, the notice can be lifted. Lifted 12/21/2018: The contact for the water system, Kevin Gip, provided a written statement in a email, dated Friday, December 21, 2018 2:28 PM, that the nitrate sample that exceeded the MCL was not a valid sample. The information provided by Mr. Gip was accepted by DWS, DMCE, and the sample was invalidated and the nitrate alert was canceled the same day. |
