Details: A routine water sample collected on 12/7/23 tested positive for total coliform and E. coli. The water system decided to issue a precautionary Boil Water Advisory to its residents around 10:30am on 12/11/23. The reason for the positive detection is still unknown, but repeat distribution samples and a triggered source sample were collected in the late afternoon and sent to Alexin Analytical Lab for testing. If samples come back positive, then the system will issue an official boil water advisory. UPDATE: 12/13/23 E. coli was detected in the triggered sample and two of the distribution samples. A boil advisory is now mandatory. Jessica called to report the detections. The system was instructed to collect 5 confirmation samples from the well within 24 hours and to not shock chlorinate until after they have been collected. Jessica is reissuing the boil advisory and will be ccing me when she emails it to OHA DWS.

Update 12/28/2023:  On 12/22 Penticton became the only source of water for PWS 4101016 Hiland WC - College Park. These two system are now operating as one through existing inerties and the well for College park has been valved off. On 12/27 a special sample was collected near an inertie for the two systems and was negative for coliform. An assessment sample was also taken at both wells. The penticton well was negative for coliform and the college park well was positive for total coliform. The college park well will remain valved off and additional special coliform samples are being collected today 12/28 throughout the entire distribution in hopes of lifting the boil advisory for both systems.

Lifted 12/29/2023:  Special samples collected throughout the distribution were all absent for coliform and the water system is lifting the boil advisory and notifying water customers through a phone blast.
