Details: | CCPH received a complaint that residents at McCuddys Landing had not had access to water in days. I called and spoke with Mark McCuddy who said that the lines out on the dock froze resulting in leaks, but that McMullen Water was working on this situation. I called and spoke with Scott McMullen who told me that McCuddys had broken pipes and a lot of breaks and leaks, and that this would be essentially entirely weather-influenced due to the continuing snow and ice of the last week. He added that the well and pump is fine, the multiple leaks are just pumping water into the river. McMullen Water, Scott says, is working to identify all the leaks and conduct repairs.
I called and left a message for Mark Anderson, and emailed him summarizing the discussion with Mark McCuddy and Scott McMullen, and since this system had no pressure at times, the system is on a Boil Water Notice. I emailed Mark Anderson the template for the boil notice, which is to be distributed to all users of the systems water. The email also mentions that once water pressure returns, a sample from distribution is to be collected once the sample comes back negative for both total coliform and E. coli, the Boil Notice may be lifted at that time. Lifted 01/26/2024: On 1/26/2024, Mark Anderson forwarded Columbia County Public Health the drinking water sample result for McCuddys Landing which tested negative for both coliform and e. coli, after water pressure was restored after the systems period of no water pressure during the snow and ice. Boil Notice lifted. |
