On August 6, 2024, Lincoln County Environmental Health was notified by operator of Otis Junction Water System that an individual or individuals had access to the water storage tanks and made attempt to contaminate the water system. The County is issuing a No Contact with Water notice and
is working with local law enforcement, Lincoln County Emergency Management, and Oregon Health Authority for next steps to restore the drinking water. As a precaution, the system has
discontinued using those reservoirs until they can be drained, disinfected and re-filled, and the entire distribution system flushed. They are urging customers to not to drink or have contact the water until further notified. Lifted 10/04/2024: Otis Junction Water System contracted with NW Natural Water Services to restore the drinking water system. By 9/6/2024 all three storage tanks were cleaned and disinfected, and the distribution system had been flushed. On 9/10/2024 entry point samples for SOC, VOC, IOC, and coliform bacteria were collected as requested by OHA. On 10/4/2024 laboratory results were received showing that chemical analytes were below relevant MCLs, and bacteriological samples were free from total coliforms and E. Coli. Upon receipt of the requested water analysis OHA lifted the No Contact with Water notice. |
