Details: | On 9/24/24, the results for Deer Island Village MHPs confirmation samples showed that 2 of the 5 samples at Well #2 tested positive for both e. coli and total coliform. I emailed both Donna Holdridge, contact for Deer Island Village MHP, and Alison Kangas with Blue Flag Realty, notifying them that the system is on a Boil Water Notice. I forwarded them both the template for the Boil Water Advisory Public Notice, in confirmed e. Coli cases, to be distributed to all users of the system’s water within 24 hours.
I also discussed this matter with Alison Kangas on the phone as well. Update 09/24/2024: I spoke with Alison Kangas with Blue Flag Realty, who manages Deer Island Village MHP she says that on 9/11/24 when the initial sample tested positive for e. coli, it was determined that their chlorinator was broken. She says Crow Water made repairs on the chlorinator, and that Crow Water also treated the wells on 9/20 yet they still had positive e. coli results when the confirmation samples were collected yesterday. She mentioned that distribution "repeat" samples were negative prior to confirmation samples, I mentioned that e. coli was confirmed at the source which is why the Boil Notice is active, but if the next sample from distribution (after treatment) is negative for total coliform and e. coli, the Boil Notice may be lifted. Lifted 09/26/2024: Alison from Blue Flag Realty called me and said that the most recent water sample from distribution at Deer Island Village MHP, collected 9/25/24, was absent for both e. coli and total coliform. I called Alexin Analytical laboratory who confirmed these results. Boil Notice is now lifted. |
