Details: | Rachel called to report the confirmed E. coli in the source. The system is issuing a boil water advisory and will be notifying the connected businesses right away. The system has UV treatment (not approved for removing E. coli) that is not functioning but has ly been masking the E. coli. I will contact OHA DWS to start a well evaluation and will conduct an onsite inspection today 11/8/24. Update 11/15/2024: WS has potentially identified the source of contamination and will be performing corrective action next week to include shock chlorination of the well and distribution. They will then wait 5 days and collect a source and distribution sample to see if the advisory can be lifted. Update 11/26/2024: A distribution sample and a source sample were collected on 11/25 (5 days after corrective action). While the distribution sample passed the source sample was positive for both total coliform and E. coli. The boil water advisory will remain in place until the water system can provide a new approved source of water. The owner is considering drilling a new well or connecting to the City of Salem. |
