Details: Brandon Owings with the City of Sheridan (00811), a surface water system in Yamhill County serving a population of 6,500 people through 1,642 service connections, called at 2:30 today to report a loss of pressure due to a waterline break. They are working on issuing a boil water notice to affected services including the Faulconer-Chapman School (k-8th grade), Sheridan High School, the Riverside Café and most services located on the south side of the South Yamhill River (roughly 1/3 of all the services) due to a loss of pressure resulting from the waterline break earlier today. Pressure has been restored, but the schools were dismissed at 2:30 pm today and the advisory will remain in effect until all follow-up testing is non-detect for coliform bacteria. Link to the school dismissal notice: https://www.sheridan.k12.or.us/5-27-25-emergency-school-closure/ Faulconer-Chapman School (FCS) is a K-8th grade school. Sheridan High School (SHS) is a 9th-12th grade school.

Update 05/28/2025:  5-28-25 7:35 AM : Approximately 420 services were affected in multiple areas across the south side of town including the Faulconer Elementary School, and the Riverside Cafe Subway near the intersection of South Bridge St and SW Monroe. Most of the areas experienced a water pressure drop while the higher elevation services experienced zero pressure. Pressure was restored within approximately 2-hrs with a free chlorine residual of 1.2 ppm. Coliform samples are being taken to the lab today (5-28-25).

Lifted 05/29/2025:  At 8:43 AM on 5-29-25 I received a call from Brandon Owings with the City of Sheridan that they were notified by the lab this morning the testing results came back absent of coliform bacteria. The City is lifting the boil water notice.
