Details: | Steve informed me that on Monday morning February 25th, a snow plow ran into a hydrant in the subdivision causing a water leak. To plan for a water outage, customers were instructed to collect and store potable water and prepare for a boil water advisory. Customers were notified in person, by email and phone. The 811 locate service and a hired contractor were tasked to locate and shut off valve to isolate water leak.
On Saturday March 2nd, the shut-off valve was located, both wells were chlorinated and the water turned back on. Customers were then notified to flush premise plumbing. On Saturday afternoon, five special samples and chlorine residuals were collected in different distribution areas. On Sunday morning March 3rd, the results from samples collected were coliform absent.
The results of the five samples lifted the boil water advisory except for the area isolated with the broken hydrant and three nearby customers. The hydrant was shut off, disinfected and capped until repairs could be made. A valve feeding the three homes was opened and customers were instructed to flush premise plumbing. A special sample collected yesterday will determine if the boil water advisory is lifted for the three customers. Steve will notify me when the sample result is available. Lifted 03/05/2019: Steve notified me that the sample collected Sunday evening on March 3rd was coliform absent. The boil water advisory for the three customers has been lifted. |
