Details: | The District is on a timeline to install filtration on their GU system. Until then, whenever there is heavy rainfall, their turbidity levels may rise above the 5.0 NTU standard, triggering a boil advisory. There was a large storm event last week which caused turbidity level to rise. Operator thought this situation was a Tier 2 notice so he would have 30 days to issue it. I communicated today that turbidity 5.0 it is an immediate Tier 1 notice, and sent him the appropriate template. He will send this notice out immediately. Meanwhile, the chlorine levels continue to be appropriate and a coliform sample collected Feb 28 was absent. Nevertheless, this boil notice will remain in effect until the turbidity level has stabilized below 5.0 NTU and a new sample at that time shows the absence of coliform. Update 03/28/2019: Their turbidity levels have stabilized and they plan to lift the boil advisory in the next couple days when the results are back from their new coliform samples. Daniel said he will send me a copy of the public notice that was distributed early in March. We had worked together on the notice, but I never got a copy of the final version. Lifted 04/01/2019: Advisory was lifted today after they received absent results from the recent coliform samples. |
