Details: | A boil water advisory has been posted for Kings Valley Charter School.
The submersible pump in the storage tank has failed and possibly the control module.
The school has been closed for today. There are five staff still on site.
I have forwarded the BWA template and FAQ to the operator.
A contractor is scheduled for 2 pm today to remediate the issue.
This is a non-chlorinated system. The operator was instructed to ensure that chlorine residuals are at 0 ppm before submitting any follow -up a special bacteria sample.
The operator has a HACH FAC test kit she borrowed from Benton County.
The boil water advisory will remain in effect until tests indicate the system is free of bacteria.
Update 10/01/2025: I spoke to the operator by phone. The special distribution sample following shock chlorination returned TC+. The operator will be requesting a contractor to conduct a second shock chlorination. We discussed cleaning the storage tanks that were installed five years ago. We also discussed the possibility of installing chlorine or UV. The advisory is still in effect until testing confirms the system is absent of bacteria. |
