A boil water notice was issued due to two repeat water samples taken on 07/25/2017 tested positive for E.coli. Andrew Steele of the USFS has been contacted and LEPH is visiting the site at 1:00pm to help post the notices. The public notices have been issued to the area hosts and posted around the interpretative center. Most of the water system are off, the current water outlets under boil water advisory are as follow: Lower system two host campgrounds and Upper system flush restrooms
LEPH was unable to conduct the Level 2 Coliform Investigation on 07/26/2017. It has been rescheduled for Friday 7/28/2017 at 10:00am
Update 04/02/2018: 04/02/2018: Mailed the water system a letter reminding them that the water system is still on a Boil Water Advisory. The letter included the steps they need to complete in order to have the Boil Water Advisory formally lifted. The letter also included information regarding current seasonal start-up requirements to help them get ready for the summer operating season. Update 05/03/2018: 05/03/2018: Contacted Andrew Steele directly so he may give me s about the water system, and to remind him the water system is still on a boil water advisory. He replied that he will be at the interpretive center within the next couple of weeks to get the water system ready for the summer season. He also stated he will follow the startup procedures and submit the required water samples to get the boil water advisory lifted. Update 06/20/2018: 6/20/2018: Water system provided LEPH with a completed copy of their seasonal startup checklist. A copy of the checklist was forwarded to the Drinking Water Program Update 06/28/2018: 06/28/2018: A negative routine TCR sample was received on 06/21/2018. A source sample was not provided. Until they provide a source sample, the Boil Water Advisory will stay as an active advisory Update 06/29/2018: 06/29/2018: The interpretive center is open to the public and the Boil Water Advisory is still active. LEPH visited the site of the water system and was not able to locate any Tier 1 public notices. LEPH mailed another letter reminding them that the water system is still on a Boil Water Advisory. The letter included the steps they need to complete in order to have the Boil Water Advisory formally lifted. Until then the Tier 1 public notice is to remain posted in conspicuous locations. Lifted 07/10/2018: The Boil Advisory has been lifted after receiving passing coliform samples from the source and distribution. Update 07/28/2017: A Level 2 Coliform Investigation was conducted and submitted Update 08/25/2017: 08/25/2017 LEPH contacted water system operator to verify if any routine TCR water samples were submitted since the August 2nds "Special" water samples. If not, routine TCR samples need to be submitted by 8/31/2017. Water operator replied with "Will do" text message. Update 09/08/2017: 09/08/2017: Water operator contacted LEPH to inform him that the interpretive center is closed for the rest of the year. This is due to a malfunction of their electric generator (primary electricity source), and there is no water available to the public. They are going to begin winterizing the water system and hope to reopen in 2018. No routine TCR water samples were provided in August and September of 2017, and the Boil Water Advisory is still active |
